Adil Khan is a critically acclaimed theater and screen actor. Rising to fame when he won the Norwegian version of “So You Think You Can Dance” hosted by TV Norge.

Adil is of Punjabi and Pashtun descent and was born in Oslo, Norway in 1983. Adil’s father is from the Punjab province of Pakistan and his mother is a Pashtun who has her roots in Afghanistan and Iran.

Adil belongs to an artistic family. Adil’s father an initiator of cultural activities in Norway, who was particularly at the forefront of introducing Pakistani/Indian Classical Music workshops in Norway, as well as being a participating figure in literary and art circles. Adil’s father is responsible for arranging music concerts and introducing Norwegian audiences to the music and creative traditions of Pakistan & India. Because of his father’s activities in music and the arts, like his sister Deeyah, Adil started learning music from a very early age. Adil’s early exposure to music prepared him for his acting and performing career in musical theatre in his later life.

As a child and teen Adil found himself drawn to emotional and artistic expression especially intrigued by the power and physical discipline of breakdancing. Adil poured his heart and soul into breakdancing dedicating every moment of the day to it. As a result Adil soon distinguished himself among the B-boy community and started winning several dance competitions in Norway and abroad.

Adil’s big breakthrough came in 2006 when he won the Norwegian national televised dance competition Dansefeber. This victory made him a household name in Norway, becoming an empowered and positive role model to many young people. Adil aware of his humble beginnings has always made it a priority to contribute towards positive change in the lives of people especially children and young people. Intent on doing something positive with his new found public voice Adil participated in several workshop initiatives for young people and also became the spokesperson for FRI (an anti smoking and anti drugs campaign initiated by Norwegian Directorate for Health and Social Affairs). For this Adil was awarded by Norwegian Cancer Society for his work with youth. This award landed Adil in the company of national icons such as Gerd-Liv Valla, Dagfinn Høybråten and Gro Harlem Brundtland.

In addition to his talent Adil’s stage presence and charisma immediately captured the attention of directors and television producers. His acting debut came in 2006 at Oslo Nye Teater as Bernardo in West Side Story followed by The Nutcracker which led to several other productions. Adil promptly proved himself to be a talented and respected young actor receiving critical acclaim for his performance in The Jungle Book as Mowgli, which earned him the nomination for the Hedda Award in the best male role category. Adil is the youngest actor in Norway to ever be nominated for this prestigious theatre award. Adil has also been awarded the Oslo City Artist Award at Oslo City Hall by Oslo Municipality for his contributions in Oslo’s artistic life

In 2009 Adil was invited to sing Michael Jackson’s “Man In The Mirror” for Auma Obama, the sister of President Barack Obama. The programme was arranged by NRK1 in connection with fund raising campaign for Africa.

In 2011 Adil Khan is set to serve as a judge on Norway’s Got Talent.
